This DIY thrift flip pedestal bowl is the perfect decor piece for Fall. Pedestal bowls can sell anywhere from $80 – $125 which, in my opinion, is ridiculously high for a bowl. My DIY pedestal bowl only takes a few steps to create a beautifully textured bowl for your home.
I was inspired by pedestal bowls sold by Pottery Barn, West Elm, and CB2. They sell gorgeous textured pedestal bowls but I knew I could create the look for a whole lot less.

During a recent trip to the thrift store, I came across some beautiful faux pumpkins and gourds for $1 along with two bowls. The larger bowl was $3 and the smaller one was $2.

HOW TO CREATE A TEXTURED PEDESTAL BOWL
- To create your pedestal bowl, you will need 2 bowls of differing sizes. While you’re at the thrift store, it’s best to play around with a few bowls to see if you can find a larger one that will rest on top of a smaller one with ease. To attach the two bowls together, I used some gorilla glue along with hot glue and allowed the glue to dry before moving on to the paint.
- Textured spray paint is relatively expensive but you can make your own paint using 2 ingredients. By mixing sand and latex paint, you can create your own textured paint in any color or amount needed. Mixing 4 parts paint and 1 part sand is a good starting point and you can add more sand from there if your paint isn’t textured enough.

3. I applied a couple of coats of paint letting the coats dry in between coats. I did not use a clear protectant but you can always do so if you want an extra layer of protection for your pedestal bowl.

4. Once the paint was dry, I added my faux gourds and pumpkins for a beautiful fall touch.
