The first question you may have when it comes to peel and stick floor tiles is, “are peel and stick floor tiles worth it?” My answer would be, Yes! This is my experience and review of Lowe’s Home Improvement Style Selections Oyster Travertine 12-in x 24-in Groutable Water Resistant Peel and Stick Luxury Vinyl Tile.
As I am currently on a journey to makeover my entire home, one room at a time. I did a lot of research online to find a budget-friendly way to transform the floor in my entryway. I wanted to find peel and stick tile that looked like stone without looking “fake”. After a few weeks of research, I narrowed it down to Style Selections Oyster Travertine.
PEEL AND STICK FLOOR TILE REVIEW
- Cost– Style Selections Oyster Travertine is $1.29/ Sq. Ft. Items are sold by the piece and carton; there is 2 Sq. Ft. per piece and 36 Sq. Ft. per carton.
- Appearance– Finished floor has a low color variation appearance. The tiles have texture and a stone-like appearance without looking “fake”.
- Ease of application– The tiles are easy to cut and snap to size. Although there is enough adhesive to apply these, we added extra adhesive to ensure a strong bond.
- Durability- Prep is key for a good outcome and longevity to any home improvement project and installing peel and stick tile is no exception. The good thing about Style Selections is their Limited Lifetime Wear-Thru Warranty. Manufacturer’s surface wear-thru warranty is limited to normal residential use on dry, interior floors for the life of the floor from the date of purchase by the original purchaser.
- How to clean– Per the Use and Care guide for Style selection Tile: Use a mop and “neutral pH” cleaner to remove any sediments or contaminants to the flooring. These cleaners are safe enough for regular use on luxury vinyl flooring. Do not use any type of chemical or harsh cleaners. Regular sweeping and vacuuming are also recommended. Do not use a vacuum with a standard “bristled beater bar” as this can damage the wear layer on the floor covering.
As the same with wood flooring, you will want your peel and stick floor tiles to acclimate to your home before applying. We brought our floor tiles home and left them for a few days before installation.
PEEL AND STICK FLOORING APPLICATION
As I stated earlier, prep is KEY for the longevity of your tiles. We applied our tiles on top of the plywood. Prior to installing the tiles, we had parquet flooring in our entryway that we ripped up and installed plywood on top of the subfloor.
We arranged our peel and stick floor tiles prior to installing them. We did this so we could get an accurate representation of how the “after” would look. Once we knew how we were going to arrange the tiles, we started cutting and applying the adhesive to them. We also used spacers between the tiles so we could apply grout.
I go into more detail in the video where you can see the entire installation from start to finish.
I would highly recommend peel and stick floor tile if you’re looking for a budget-friendly and easy way to update your floors without breaking the bank.
If you have any concerns about peel and stick flooring, I would love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.
