I’ve always had a love affair with orchid arrangements and those from Restoration Hardware have always been some of my favorites. The only problem with them is the price. Their arrangements can cost upwards of $900, which is an amount I am not comfortable with spending. This led me to create my own DIY faux orchid arrangement for less than $75.
SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR FAUX ORCHID ARRANGEMENT
Michael’s has a great selection of orchid’s and I picked up three for my arrangement. The orchids I chose look as realistic as you can get when it comes to faux flowers, and they were the perfect choice for this project.
Finding the perfect vessel for this arrangement took me to the At Home store where I found a beautiful concrete planter for $19.99. I glued some styrofoam to the bottom of the planter and covered all of it with moss sheets before adding the greenery and Spanish moss to hide any bare spots.
The bamboo sticks I used were quite long so I cut them down to size using my jigsaw. I used raffia to attach the bamboo sticks to the orchid stems, which not only gave the arrangement a more Restoration Hardware “look”, but also made the orchid stems more stable.
For less than $75, I created a beautiful orchid arrangement that looks just as good as those you can purchase from Restoration Hardware.
