Having your cleaning products and cleaning tools in one place makes it more convenient when it comes time to clean. It also helps to save money because, once you have everything in one place, you can take inventory of items you have and of what is needed. I am excited to share how to organize cleaning supplies along with some affordable organizational ideas and hacks.
CLEANING CLOSET MAKEOVER
We started out with a dark and drab closet and I knew immediately we had to paint the cedar walls. Since cedar has a tendency to bleed through light-colored paint, we primed the walls before applying 2 coats of Decorator’s White by Benjamin Moore. The newly painted walls immediately made this closet light and airy.
The floors were next and I chose to use the same peel and stick in the closet that we applied to the entryway. You can read the full post here to see how I install peel and stick flooring.
ORGANIZING CLEANING SUPPLIES
We had our electrician install an outlet in the closet after we bought our home. It has come in handy to be able to keep my Dyson charged and ready at all times.
To be able to keep my brooms, mops, and Swiffer off the floor, I like utilizing a broom holder. This helps to keep all of my cleaning tools off the floor and in one place.
Another clever organizational tool to implement in a cleaning closet or pantry is to use a shoe organizer to hold your paper towels. The majority of the time anyone steps foot inside my closet, it is to retrieve either toilet paper or paper towels. So, to make those easier to find, I like to keep them right by the door.
While I love having a functional cleaning closet, I also wanted a visually appealing one as well. I found my hyacinth baskets from The Container Store and Wayfair. I used mini picture frames from Dollar Tree along with my Dymo label maker to create custom labels for the baskets.
Knowing how to organize cleaning supplies can make finding your supplies a lot easier. These are just a few organizational ideas I use in my cleaning closet.
